GfK Consumer Confidence Index November 2023

  • GfK’s Consumer Confidence Index increased six points in November to -24
  • All five measures were up compared with last month. 

General economic situation 

  • Consumers’ measure of the general economic situation over the last 12 months is up by five points at -49. This is 18 points higher than the same month a year ago (November 2022).
  • Expectations for the general economic situation over the coming 12 months increased by six points to -26. This is 32 points better than the same month a year ago.

 Personal finances 

  • The personal finances index covering the last twelve months increased three points to -16, eight points better than a year ago. 
  • The forward-looking measure for personal finances over the next twelve months increased five points to -3, which is 26 points higher than the same time last year.

Major purchases 

  • The Major Purchase Index increased 10 points to -24. This is 14 points higher than the same month a year ago.

Savings Index (not included in the overall measure) 

  • The Savings Index is down two points at +29. This is eight points higher than a year ago.
