GfK Consumer Confidence Index November 2022

  • GfK’s Consumer Confidence Index increased three points in November to -44, 30 points lower than a year ago.
  • All measures were up compared to last month.

General economic situation 

  • Consumers’ measure of the general economic situation over the last 12 months increased by two points to -67 in November. This is 27 points lower than the same month a year ago.
  • Expectations for the general economic situation over the coming 12 months have improved by three points to -58. This is still 35 points lower than in November 2021

 Personal finances 

  • The personal finances index covering the last twelve months went up four points to -24, 17 points worse than a year ago. 
  • The forward-looking measure for personal finances over the next twelve months increased five points to -29, which is 31 points lower than last November.

Major purchases 

  • The Major Purchase Index increased three points to -38. This is 35 points lower than the same month a year ago.

Savings Index (not included in the overall measure) 

  • The Savings Index increased by eight points to +21. This is six points higher than a year ago.
