GfK Consumer Confidence August 2025

• The GfK Consumer Confidence Index increased by two points to -17 in August. 
• Four measures were up and one was down in August compared to last month.

General economic situation

• Consumer perceptions of the general economic situation over the past 12 months moved up two points to -42, 7 points worse than in August 2024.
• Expectations for the general economic situation over the next 12 months declined by one point to -30, down 15 points on this time last year. 

Personal finances

• The personal finances index for the past 12 months is up three points at -4, three points better than in August 2024.
• Expectations for personal finances over the next 12 months is up three points at +5, one point worse than the same month last year. 

Major purchases

• The Major Purchase Index increased by two points to -13, same as August 2024. Savings Index (not included in the overall measure)
• The Savings Index dropped four points to +30, down three points from this time last year.
