GfK Consumer Confidence April 2026

  • The GfK Consumer Confidence Index fell four points to -25 in April. 
  •  Four measures decreased, one remained unchanged compared with last month.

General economic situation

  • Consumer perceptions of the general economic situation over the past 12 months decreased eight points to -51.
  • Expectations for the general economic situation over the next 12 months fell six points to -43, six points worse than last year.

Personal finances

  • The personal finances index for the past 12 months dropped four points to -11, one point lower than April 2025. 
  • Expectations for personal finances over the next 12 months decreased five points to -4, one point lower than the same month last year.

Major purchases

  • The Major Purchase Index remained at -18, one point better than last year.

Savings Index (not included in the overall measure)

  • The Savings Index increased five points to +32, two points higher than last year.
