GDP

  • Monthly UK GDP is estimated to have shown no growth in February following growth of 00% in January.

Confidence

  • GfK’s Consumer Confidence Index increased six points in April to 00.

Inflation

  • Headline inflation eased to 00% in March, from 00% last month, but above the 00% forecast by economists. On a MoM basis, inflation rose 00%.

Labour Market

  • The unemployment rate for November 2022 to January 2023 is largely unchanged compared with the previous quarter at 00%.

Retail sales

  • Retail sales rose by 00% YoY in March according to the Retail Economics Retail Sales Index (Fig 1), against an 00% rise in the previous year.

Credit and housing market

  • Housing market activity remained subdued in March but showed signs of stabilising. The outlook for the year ahead has improved, with the first positive reading for long-term sales expectations since March 2022.
